John Voelker is the founder and president of Voelker Underwriting Services, which has consulted and advocated for BGAs, IMOs, producer groups, brokers, and agents for over 12 years. In all, he has more than 30 years of experience in underwriting and the life insurance sector, having worked as an underwriting director, consultant, and analyst at several insurance and financial services companies, including Sun Life Financial, Genworth, and MassMutual Financial Group. He’s also a fellow of the Life Management Institute and a member of the Risk Appraisal Forum and Association of Home Office Underwriters.
John has spent his career building relationships with major U.S. carriers and consulting on the life insurance underwriting process, specializing in handling complex cases. Most importantly, he is an advocate for individuals who have been declined coverage or charged higher rates than applied for. He’s also written extensively on best practices for industry professionals and offers his breadth of knowledge through his online underwriting course.
