No changes in life insurance prices despite pandemic surge
Life insurance prices remained the same from November to December across core demographics. Both healthy and older, less healthy applicants saw little to no fluctuations in premiums, even as COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the U.S. The biggest uptick across core demographics was a modest 52-cent increase for 55-year-old female smokers purchasing a $1 million policy. Because carriers have previously adjusted pricing in response to the coronavirus outbreak, applicants won’t see any major pricing changes for the remainder of the year.
The coronavirus vaccine is also unlikely to impact pricing this year. Insurance companies will likely evaluate the effectiveness of a vaccine before adjusting premiums.
Due to the stability in life insurance prices, most applicants can find an affordable life insurance policy.
